How to speed up image upload


Why?

The larger the image file size the longer it takes to upload to your site. If you reduce the size of your images in terms of files size, the images will upload faster.

What?

There are several commercial and free programs that can help you. Commercial examples are Adobe Photoshop and Fireworks. These programs will do the job but they are a sledge hammers to crack a nut so we recommend the powerful yet free program from Google called Picassa. Picassa will help you to find all the pictures on your computer and organise them. It will even remove red-eye, crop, rotate and all sorts of other cool stuff.

How?

  1. Download Picassa from Google
  2. Install Picassa
  3. Open Picassa
  4. To create the smaller versions of the pictures simply select the images and click on the Export button on the bottom right of the program.

  5. Set the folder name and location for the new smaller images
  6. Select custom size - 600px
  7. Set Image Quality to Custom and then using the slider set it to 80

  8. Click OK
  9. Then upload the images from this folder as normal via the EzPz blue administration bar.
